Sunny Side Up

This stupid quarter-life crisis thingy is taking up a lot of my time. And I’m finding out that too many people that I know read this blog. It makes for an awkward situation when I bump into someone and they’re like, “I really like your writing, but I think you might have a drinking problem.”

Goddamnit!

I’m going through a personal crisis right now, drinking is the least of my problems. I’ve ate all the food in my house, used up all the gas in my car and have probably applied to every single job opening on craigslist. I could use a drink. Actually, I’m thinking of AA just for the free food, coffee and group support from a bunch of other losers probably far off worse than me.

I’m just saying.

Let me break this down for those who still can’t quite feel my pain. Some people graduate from high school and then go straight into the work force. They might have a job that they hate for the rest of their life, but they have experience.

Other’s (like me) go to college for ten years, party, have sex, act like a gay whore on parade day and then graduate with a degree and no experience. They can’t even experience having a job that they hate, because no one will hire them.

I'm such a brat, I know.

And then the ex pointed out that most writers don’t get the recognition they deserve until after they die. I love how when I am down there is always someone there to help me look at the bright side of things. =)

Find me in a better mood here.

Sounds like you've got the post grad blues. Hang in there. It'll happen.

I could use a drink, too. But I need to put gas in the car. LOL

that sucks!!!

i don't know if this makes you more lucky than me, but almost no one i know reads my blog. i would like for them to though. oh well.

i am pretty sure that you will be just fine, especially if writing is what you want to do. enough folks come here to read about your tales that someone is bound to recognize the talent.

stay strong. we are all pulling for you.

Don't worry Puddin,
Somewhere in there is a kick azz novel. Feel your rage! Embrace it! Now ignore, the snickers, the hecklers, the creeping tight binding underwear and the shadow of Funk that envelops everything single thing around you and write damn it!
Luv you

Well your ex is just a little bolt of sunshine isn't he?

It'll happen, don't worry. It's always a shock coming out of uni to the 'real world' and you realise how under prepared for it you really are.

understand why the ex is the ex. why the ex is still around providing statements like that confuses folk.

it took a few years before i fell into my profession after graduating, so just hang in there for the post grad roller coaster ride.

the ex was a jerkface for that non-supportive commentary. i'd kick him in the throat.

Quarter life crisis? Be honest who lives to one hundred anyways? And you should continue to drink until you can't remember this time in your life because then it will pass quicker. And I'm sure you'll end up way more hirable once you've learned how to become a high functioning alcoholic.

Yes, yes, but how much more fun have you had than everyone else, hmmm? A BIG FUCKIN' LOT! Plus jobs are overrated. They're good for little things like paying rent and keeping your wetbar stocked but really, that's about it....

Of course, it's hard to have a truly good time without those things. I really didn't think that through.

I'm sorry to read you've fallen on hard times.

Don't worry. You'll have the rest of your life to work a stinkin' job.

I sure would have liked to go to college with you. I was on the 10-year plan myself. We would have had a blast.
